All students who live on campus must submit a Housing Application and sign a Housing Agreement. Log onto your Housing Portal to access your application.
FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS
All admitted first-year students are required to live on campus during their first three academic years (freshman, sophomore, and junior years). Students who are required live on campus must submit a Housing Application and sign a Housing Agreement through the Housing Portal. Housing assignments are only made to students who complete the application in full by the stated deadlines.
The 2026–2027 Housing Application opens on March 2, 2026. Newly admitted first-year students must complete the application and sign the Housing Agreement no later than May 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (CST). Housing and Residence Life will communicate with students via their official Tulane University email address.
Application Requirements:
- The Housing Application must be completed in its entirety by the deadline.
- Students with incomplete applications are not eligible to receive a housing assignment or to participate in roommate preferencing.
- Proxy Requirement (Students Under 18): Students under the age of 18 must designate a parent or legal guardian as a proxy to complete and sign the Housing Agreement on their behalf. Proxy information must be entered accurately in the Housing Portal. Incorrect information may delay completion of the agreement.
Roommate Grouping Period & Housing Assignments
- After submitting a completed Housing Application, new first-time applicants are guaranteed a housing assignment.
- Students may participate in the roommate grouping period from June 3, 2026, through June 18, 2026.
During this period, students may select or confirm roommate preferences through the Housing Portal.
Room and roommate preferences are considered when possible, but are not guaranteed.
Students who do not participate in the roommate grouping period will be assigned a roommate by Housing and Residence Life.
- Housing assignments will be released on July 6, 2026.
Residency Requirement:
All undergraduate students enrolled as first-time, full-time students are required to live in university residence halls for their first three academic years (freshman, sophomore, and junior years).
- Class year is determined by the total number of academic years enrolled at Tulane, not by credit hours earned.
Residency Exemptions:
Students who believe they qualify for an exemption from the residency requirement must:
- Review the Residency Exemption Requirements outlined in the 2026–2027 Housing Agreement.
- Submit a Residency Exemption Request Form along with any supporting documentation to Housing and Residence Life at housing@tulane.edu no later than June 3, 2026.
Residential Learning Communities (RLCs):
Tulane Residential Learning Communities (RLCs) are themed living environments where first-year students live together in a residence hall and engage in shared academic, cultural, or social experiences. Students in an RLC live on designated floors with peers who share an interest in the community’s focus. Housing and Residence Life partners with academic and university departments at Tulane University to provide RLC students with specialized programming, faculty and staff connections, and resources that support success both inside and outside the classroom.

Important Reminders for New Students:
- Submit your housing application as early as possible to maximize available options.
- Regularly check your Tulane email for time-sensitive housing communications.
- Failure to meet deadlines or complete required steps may delay or prevent a housing assignment.

TRANSFER STUDENTS
Newly admitted transfer students may apply for housing starting March 2nd, 2026 and must apply no later than May 8th, 2026.
Assignments - Transfer students are assigned housing based on the availability of each space. Housing and Residence Life does its best to honor roommate and community preferences, but does not guarantee housing within these preferences.
GRADUATE STUDENTS
The Bertie M. and John W. Deming Pavilion is Tulane University’s graduate housing complex. It is located on Tulane's downtown campus in New Orleans’ medical district and offers furnished studio, one and two bedroom apartments. Learn more about graduate housing.
