Debuting in Fall of 2026 Housing and Residence Life is excited to open The Village Fire Pit for all students across campus. The Village Fire Pit is located between Fogelman and River Halls along McAlister Drive. The fire pit will be available for use beginning September 22, 2026. It will be operational from 5pm to 11pm daily, weather permitting. Should you experience any issues please consult the Hub Assistant inside the Small Family Collaboration Hub for assistance.
Instructions for Users
- To turn on the fire between the hours of 5pm and 11pm, open the top plastic switch cover and turn the timer to the amount of time you expect to spend at the fire pit. The fire can run for up to one hour. You can turn the fire back on for more time, as needed.
- You do not need to turn the timer to turn the flames off when you are done at the fire pit, you can allow the timer to run out on it's own.
- If you experience an emergency please press the emergency stop button in the middle plastic switch over to extinguish the flames and gas immediately.
- To restart the fire pit after the emergency stop button has been pressed please turn the emergency button and turn the direction of the arrow (clockwise) to reset.
Rules for The Fire Pit
- For safety nothing should be stuck into the flames of the fire pit.
- There is no cooking on the fire pit fire.
- If you see foreign material in the fire pit do not light the fire. Inform the Hub Assistant.
- Be respectful and keep volume at a reasonable level in the later hours of the evening.
