Academic Year Positions

Housing & Residence Life offers a variety of student staff positions during the academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) for students. From supporting students in the residence halls as a Resident Advisor (RA), to helping students at our area desks as a Desk Services Coordinator (DSC), our student staff positions are integral parts of the Housing & Residence Life team. Our student staff receive ongoing training, professional development, and opportunity to connect with other students through their work experience. 

Student staff positions for the Academic Year have specific dates of employment specified in the housing contract, which may include working immediately before or after the semester, or over break periods. Please review the specific position description on application for the specific position you apply for more information on expected employment dates and availability. 

Academic Year Positions

The following student staff positions are offered by Housing & Residence Life during the Academic Year. Each position has unique roles within Housing & Residence Life, and students who are interested in applying to one or multiple positions are encouraged to review the job descriptions for each position closely. 

Desk Services Coordinator (DSC)

Desk Services Coordinators serve as the first point of contact for visitors to the residence halls. The role of the DSC is to provide excellent customer service and to facilitate the administrative work of the desk, such as handling keys and conducting check-ins and checkouts. Our DSCs earn $10.00 an hour and have the opportunity to work a minimum of 2 hours a week and a maximum of 20 hours a week at any of our residence hall front desks. 

Senior Desk Services Coordinator (SDSC)

Senior Desk Services Coordinators work with the overall maintenance of a residential area's front desk. SDSCs assist with front desk operations, including management of the DSC work schedule, monitoring room keys, and ensuring the upkeep of all operations documentation. SDSCs help coordinate operations at a specific community desk and work closely with our DSC staff. Our Senior Desk Services Coordinators receive a stipend and a room on-campus as part of their compensation.

Facilities Assistant (FA)

Facilities Assistants work to maintain and improve living conditions in the residence halls. FAs complete a variety of projects and tasks around housing and residence life, and it's a dynamic job with tasks that can vary from day to day. FAs have the opportunity to be active at work, and may be asked to move furniture, respond to resident facilities requests, and perform inventory and database upkeep. Our FAs earn $10.00 an hour. 

Hub Assistant (HA)

Hub Assistants provide customer service and technical support for our newest dynamic, community space in The Village, called The Hub. HAs will work at the front desk of The Hub, assist with logistics of event registrations, and provide excellent customer service to students, staff, faculty, and visitors of The Hub. Our HAs earn $10.00 an hour and work up to 20 hours a week; hours are flexible based on your class schedule. 

Office Assistant (OA)

Office Assistants serve as the first point of contact for visitors to the main Housing and Residence Life office in Irby Hall. The role of the OA is to provide excellent customer service, to provide administrative support to the central office staff, and to assist in office projects and initiatives. Our OAs earn $10.00 an hour. 

Peer Wellness Representative (PWR)

Peer Wellness Representatives assist in developing, facilitating, and supporting programs centered around the 8 Dimensions of Wellness in our first-year halls. PWRs will serve as a source of support for individual students and build skills designing wellness content to post in the halls and on social media. PWRs will work 5-10 hours per week at a rate of $10.50/hour. To apply, visit the application within the Common Mentor Application on Wavesync

Resident Advisor (RA)

Resident Advisors are live-in student leaders who serve as role models and facilitate activities and programs in the residence halls. RAs are vital to building a strong residence hall community, upholding Community Living Standards, holding residents accountable, and managing student concerns and crises. Being an Resident Advisor is an excellent way to get involved in the Tulane Community, build professional experience, and grow as a student leader on-campus! 


How to Apply

Applications for the Senior Desk Services Coordinator and Resident Advisor positions are available once a year during the Fall semester. Applications for the Desk Services Coordinator, Facilities Assistant, Hub Assistant, and Office Assistant positions are available once a year during the Spring semester. Information will be sent to students regarding application availability near the beginning of the semester in which the application will become available.

  1. Begin by navigating to eRezLife
  2. Create an account by clicking the "Create Account" button
  3. Enter the following information:
    1. First name
    2. Last name
    3. email (please use your Tulane email)
    4. Student ID number (this is your Splash ID number listed on your Splash Card)
  4. Click "Create Account" again to finish your account set-up
    1. You will see a "Congratulations!" message displayed
  5. Check your email, and click the link in the email to set your password

  1. Log-in to eRezLife with your username and password

    1. If you have not created an eRezLife account, please follow the "Create an Account via eRezLife" instructions above
  2. Click "Job Overview" in the menu on the left-hand side of the screen
    1. This will display all positions you can apply for
  3. Select the position you would like to apply for
  4. Review the information on the job posting, and click "Apply Now" to begin your application
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions
