DONATIONS, TRASH, AND RECYCLING
Donations
Donated personal items cannot be left in building lobbies or lounges, and must be brought to a donation area closest to your residence hall. Students will be charged if found to have left personal items in building lobbies.
Trash to Treasure (T2T) is a Tulane organization that coordinates the collection of unwanted items. Some items are donated to local organizations with assistance from CPS, while others are stored over the summer to be sold during move-in at their resale location. Collection dates are May 2 - May 8.
Typical items to donate include: furniture, organizational supplies, hangers, lamps, kitchenware, mirrors, clean clothes, and electronics. T2T will also collect and distribute toiletries, feminine hygiene supplies, laundry detergent, and unopened food to local organizations. Students are encouraged to bring their items to one of the T2T locations. Please note: collection locations can only accommodate items that fit into a residence hall, larger items will not be accepted.
T2T will collect at the following locations from May 2 - May 8 between 12pm and 8pm:
- In the gravel lot near Aron off Ben Weiner
- Behind Monroe
- Between Greenbaum and McWilliams Hall
The following locations will be open for drop-offs 24-hours a day from 12pm on May 2 until 12pm on May 8:
- Between Butler & Weatherhead off Willow Street
- In The Village near Fogelman, River, and Bayou
- In the Oak Lot near Lake and Wall
- Behind McAlister Auditorium near Sharp

Trash & Recycling
Beginning Friday, May 1, all trash rooms and chutes in residence halls will be closed. Students are expected to take all trash and recycling items to the dumpsters and designated cardboard recycling areas outside of their residence hall. Items left in hallways, common areas, or other unapproved areas within or outside of residence halls cause health and safety concerns for students and guests. As such, students will be charged a damage fee for any items left in unapproved locations during the move-out period.
To avoid this, we recommend starting early. Begin going through your items in April or earlier, and donate or discard them in advance of final exams and the move-out period.
Summer Storage
Tulane University's approved summer storage partner is University & Student Services(USS). No other storage vendor are permitted to operate on campus, including for pickups or deliveries. USS has been vetted to ensure compliance with the University's insurance and background check protocols, and has agreed to follow all University policies and procedures.
Residents who use USS to store their belongings over the summer or longer should leave their packaged and labeled belongings in their locked room when they check out. Items should be left on or near the bed; please do not place items in the closet, as they may be missed during pick-up. After the residence halls close, Housing & Residence Life staff will provide access for USS to pick up student belongings for storage.
USS offers partial and full summer storage, as well as semester and year-long storage options. Please review the University & Student Services website for rates and details.
USS will be on McAlister near the LBC April 20 - May 8 for box kit pickup, as well as purchasing additional supplies.
