The residence halls close for the winter holiday break on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. Students are expected to leave the residence halls within 24 hours of their last final exam or by 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, whichever comes first. No resident is permitted access to residential facilities during Winter Break unless they have been given written permission from the Housing and Residence Life office.
If you are unable to accommodate the 12:00 p.m. departure time on December 18 due to an emergency or last-minute flight delay/change, please contact your Resident Director immediately via e-mail.
The residence halls will re-open on Sunday, January 12th at 9:00 a.m. Card access will be shut off and residents will not be permitted to enter their residence hall or access their room before that time.
Students need to stay on-campus for any amount of time after the residence halls close and / or during Winter Break must complete the Winter Break Housing application in the Housing Portal by December 1. Students who request to remain on campus during Winter Break will be approved on a case by case basis. Students who are approved to stay on campus over winter break must live in Aron, Décou-Labat or Butler Halls. Students who do not live in one of these halls will be moved for their winter break housing. The cost for Winter Break housing is $400.
Students who are not returning to the residence halls or who are changing their room for the spring must complete a checkout appointment with their RA before leaving for winter break. Students who are permanently leaving Tulane must complete the Housing Agreement Release Request Form.
Students are expected to plan to check-out by the posted closing date and check-in after the posted opening date for each semester. Students will only be allowed to check-in on their approved check-in date.
Students who need to arrive to campus early for the Spring 2020 semester must complete the Spring Early Move-In Request Form by December 1. Students who are approved to move-in early will be assessed a $100 / day fee to change their approved check-in date.
Students who are arriving early for Sorority Recruitment must follow the instructions from The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Programs and do not need to complete a request form through Housing & Residence Life.
Students who are required to move-in early for an on-campus job or other Tulane-affiliated activity should work with their department / organization to request an early move-in on their behalf.
