Two Ways to
Check Out
# 1) Standard Check Out: You
can make a checkout appointment with your CC at least 48 hours before
your departure. Remember that CCs have exams and lives too and will
not be at your disposal. Plan ahead! Residents living in apartments
ending:

# 2) Express Check Out: You can opt for an Express
Check Out. Express Check Out requires that before you leave campus
you do the following:
(A) Lock your bedroom door and turn in your apartment room key
(B) Complete the Express Check-Out Form (found
at the Willow Desk)
(C) Leave your apartment and bedroom clean and free of personal
belongings (see guidelines below)
To Utilize Express Check Out:
1. Make sure that your apartment and bedroom are clean and none
of your belongings remain in your bedroom. Following the guidelines
below should help you avoid damage billing charges.
2. Close and lock your bedroom door and take your bedroom key to the Willow Front Desk. Carefully read, complete, and sign the Aron Express Check-Out Form.
3. Give the form to the Housing and Residence Life staff member
working at the Willow Front Desk. Be sure that the staff member
gives you the yellow copy of the Express form for your records.
This is your confirmation that you returned your key and will not be charges a re-core fee.
4. You can leave after you have the yellow copy of the Aron Express Check-Out form.
5. A member of Housing and Residence Life staff will go through
your apartment and bedroom within 48 hours of your checkout with
your Room Condition Report (RCR), noting any discrepancies between
the condition of the apartment when you arrived and the condition of your apartment upon check out. He or she will also note
any major damage or cleaning needs. If you opt to check out this
way, you accept responsibility for those charges automatically.
You must check out using one of the above methods. There is an improper check out fee for anyone who leaves without completing his/her Room Condition Report or filling out an Express Check-Out Form.
Before you have your checkout appointment or leave for Express Check Out, consider the following:
• The common areas should be clean when the first person
checks out because any damage charges or cleaning fees in the
common space (living room, kitchen, and bath) will be divided
among all residents in the apartment. CCs will take photographs
of areas that will be charged for damage or cleaning fees.
• Be considerate when packing. Other people may still have
exams, and quiet hours are in effect until closing!
• In order to avoid hassles later, take the appropriate arrangements
NOW for storage.
• Remove ALL personal belongings from your apartment. You
will NOT be checked out until all of your belongings are out of
your bedroom or apartment. If you are using Express Check Out
and personal items are found in your bedroom (you will lock your
bedroom when you leave, therefore no one will be able to enter)
a minimum $90 disposal fee will automatically be assessed.
• Remove all posters, signs, hangings, etc. from your walls, door exterior, and door interior. No nails, tape, or hooks should be attached (or have damaged!) the walls.
• Arrange and assemble all University furniture as it was
upon check in and remove your personal furniture items. A minimum
charge of $50 will be assessed to reassemble beds and remove non-Tulane
furniture, cinder blocks, bathroom accessories, etc.
• Make sure that all screens are on the windows, and windows are locked with blinds completely down and turned open.
• Take all trash to dumpsters and all recycling to recycling bins. Any trash left in hallways will be billed to the building through community damage billing. All trash left in your room will be billed directly to you.
