Housing and Residence Life offers a variety of housing options including Residential Learning Communities (RLCs), first-year communities, upperclass communities, single, double, and triple rooms, suites, and apartments. Each residence hall or apartment has unique characteristics and amenities, allowing you to select the housing option that best suits your needs.

Aron Residences

Aron Residences, located on the former site of Tulane Stadium and named in honor of the philanthropist Jack Aron and his family, is an exciting on-campus community predominantly for juniors and seniors. The Willow desk is open 24/7 to assist Aron residents with key/access issues, security concerns, or additional questions. Aron consists of three-, four-, and five-bedroom apartments surrounding a common courtyard.

Butler Residence Hall

Named for Pierce Butler, a former Newcomb College professor and dean, Butler Residence Hall is an eight-story, co-ed structure which consists of double-occupancy rooms for first-year students.  The Weatherhead desk is open 24/7 to assist residents with key/access issues, security concerns, or additional questions. Butler Hall is home to two Residential Learning Communities, Health Wave and Third Coast.

Greenbaum Residence Hall

The Greenbaum Residence Hall opened in 2014 and is named for Barbara Greenbaum '63 by her husband, Jerry Greenbaum '62. Greenbaum features single and double suite-style rooms, social and study lounges on each floor, a demonstration kitchen, classroom, and an outdoor courtyard. The Greenbaum desk is open 24/7 to assist residents with key/access issues, security concerns, or additional questions. Greenbaum is also home to a faculty member and their family. This Faculty in Residence helps college residents to become more engaged in the intellectual and social activities at the University.

Irby Residence Hall
Irby

Irby Hall was named for William Ratcliffe Irby, a New Orleans businessman and President of the Board of Administrators, was instrumental in establishing Tulane's central purchasing system.

Irby Hall is located on Bruff Quad and is comprised of four-room suites with a shared bathroom. Most suites have eight bed spaces and the hall is co-ed by suite. All rooms are double occupancy with large picture windows. Exterior corridors wrap around the building on all sides and promote resident interaction. Irby Hall is home primarily to second-year and transfer students. The Paterson desk is open 24/7 to assist Irby residents with key/access issues, security concerns, or additional questions. Josephine Louise Residence Hall

Josephine Louise Hall, better known as JOLO, is one of four original buildings on the Newcomb campus and is named in honor of the school's benefactress, Mrs. Josephine Louise Lemonnier Newcomb. JL is Tulane’s only all-female living community and only houses first-year students. Many of the rooms are unique in character and do not have standard dimensions. The building offers features such as old-fashioned casement windows, high ceilings and mounted bookshelves. All rooms have a sink and mirror in one corner. The Greenbaum desk is open 24/7 to assist Josephine Louise residents with key/access issues, security concerns, or additional questions. JL is home to the Spark Residential Learning Community.

Mayer Residence Hall

Named for board member William Mayer and his wife Katherine, both long time supporters of the University, Mayer Residence Hall features suite-style living with either two singles or two doubles sharing a bathroom. Some rooms have shared balconies. The Weatherhead desk is open 24/7 to assist Mayer residents with key/access issues, security concerns, or additional questions. Mayer Residence Hall features two upstairs patios and is attached to Le Gourmet.

Monroe Residence Hall

Monroe Hall is named for J. Blanc Monroe, a former member of the Board of Trustees. It is a twelve-story facility that offers panoramic views of the campus and city. The hall is coed by wing and has both double- and single-occupancy rooms. The rooms have extra-long bunkable twin beds with moveable desks and ample closet space. The Sharp desk is open 24/7 to assist Monroe residents with key/access issues, security concerns, or additional questions. Paterson Residence Hall

Paterson Residence Hall is named for board member Albert Barnett Paterson. Paterson's unique floor plan features rooms that open off a central hallway for first-year students, while upperclass student rooms are entered from an external balcony. Rooms located on a central hallway are double occupancy with community bathrooms. The rooms on the external balconies are double rooms with a shared bathroom. Paterson is coed by interior floor or by suite in the exterior stations of the building. Paterson is home to two Residential Learning Communities, Changemaker and Kaleidoscope.

Phelps Residence Hall

Phelps Hall was named for Esmond Phelps, President of the Board of Administrators in 1926. 

Phelps Hall is located on Bruff Quad and is comprised of four-room suites with a shared bathroom. Most suites have eight-bed spaces and the hall is coed by suite. Sharp Residence Hall
Sharp

Sharp Hall is named for Robert Sharp, who became president of Tulane in 1913. Sharp Residence Hall houses first-year students and the large connecting lobby area is the hub of activity for the community. Within the lobby is a pool table, large screen TV, and front desk. The Sharp desk is open 24/7 to assist residents with key/access issues, security concerns, or additional questions. Sharp is L-shaped, with seven floors on one wing and four on the other wing. Rooms come with built-in closets and shelving, twin mattresses, and movable desks.

Warren Residence House
Warren

Named for Warren Newcomb, beloved husband of Newcomb College founder Josephine Louise Newcomb, this charming residence hall features elegant turn-of-the-century architecture. One side of the building, known as Old Warren, opened its doors in 1927 and was designed to complement the original Newcomb campus. The side known as New Warren was added in 1952, but retains the feel of the original building. The Weatherhead desk is open 24/7 to assist Warren residents with key/access issues, security concerns, or additional questions. Warren House is home to the Shapers and Creators Residential Learning Community.

Wall Residence Hall
Wall

Wall Residence Hall is Tulane’s First-Year Honors Community. The Honors Residential Learning Community embraces the ideal of scholarly engagement as a goal for all high-achieving students. Through increased interaction with faculty both inside and outside the classroom, students are immersed in a collaborative, intellectual, and close-knit social community with a focus on academic enrichment and excellence. Students from all disciplines can apply to become members of Tulane's Honors Residential College. The Wall desk is open 24/7 to assist residents with key/access issues, security concerns, or additional questions. Weatherhead Residence Hall

Named in honor of the late Albert J, Weatherhead III and his wife, Celia, who is a graduate of Newcomb and a member of the Board of Tulane, Weatherhead Residence Hall is Tulane’s Upperclassmen Honors Community. The Honors Community embraces the ideal of scholarly engagement as a goal for all high-achieving students. Designed by the architecture firm Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas + Co in association with John C. Williams Architects, Weatherhead Hall opened in August 2011. In 2012, it received a merit award for architecture from the American Institute of Architects, New Orleans chapter, as well as the Best Architecture/Design Innovator award from Student Housing Business magazine.

Willow Residences and Townhomes
Willow

Willow Residences, on the corner of Willow Street and McAlister Drive, houses over 300 students in four buildings. The three buildings facing McAlister Drive are similar in design. Each building has two room suites consisting of either two double rooms sharing a bath, two single rooms sharing a bath, or one single room and one double room sharing a bath.  The Willow desk is open 24/7 to assist residents with key/access issues, security concerns, or additional questions. The Willow Townhomes are located right behind the main Willow buildings and feature rooms that are entered from an exterior courtyard.
