The Paterson House Wellness Community offers you the opportunity
to explore all aspects of a sustainable lifestyle, from a healthy
self to a healthy community. Seminar discussions, wilderness adventures,
community dinners, and faculty events will give you a chance to
stretch, step, and paddle in a new direction, and to help build
a healthy, environmentally friendly community right here on campus.
Paterson is a small residence hall with a large kitchen, comfortable
community room, and shaded outdoor patio. Optional activities and
events for Paterson residents focus on all facets of wellness: personally,
in the community, and globally. These events include:
• Weekly on-site yoga classes
• Community vegetarian and vegan-friendly potlucks
• Faculty perspectives on rebuilding a healthy city
• Outdoor adventure trips featuring opportunities to learn
wilderness & leadership skills
• The Common Purposes: Communities in Action social justice
program series featuring interactive lecture/discussion segments
on topics such as civic engagement, power and privilege, servant
leadership, and social action
In other words, at Paterson Hall you can enjoy canoe trips, hiking,
camping, vegan/vegetarian eating, yoga, environmental awareness,
recycling, social justice and more!

Club, the Center for Bioenvironmental Research, and the Office of
Multicultural Affairs
Paterson Hall is named for Board Member Albert Barnett Paterson.
Paterson's unique floor plan features rooms that open off a central
hallway, while others are entered from an external balcony. Rooms
located on a central hallway are double occupancy with community
bathrooms. The rooms on the external balconies are four-person suites
with a shared bathroom. Renovated in the mid 90's, Paterson is equipped
with moveable, Shaker-style, wood furniture; extra long twin beds;
and is coeducational by interior floor or by suite in the exterior
stations of the building. On the first floor is a large common room
that features a pool table, large screen TV, and adjacent kitchen.
The laundry room is just around the corner. Paterson also features
a first floor study room, a computer lab on the second floor, and
a large study room on the third floor.
