Residence Halls Application Roommates Moving In Links and Resources

Your Belongings

When you pack for Tulane, make sure you bring only what you need. Remember, you will be sharing a room with another person; space is at a premium. The metropolitan area has many department and specialty stores at which you can find items you need. You should leave your heavy winter clothing and blankets at home as the weather is warm through October or even November. Many students will bring a sweater or light jacket and find that is sufficient until they are ready to ship or bring their heavier clothing later in the fall.

• No matter what you bring, we strongly recommend that you label all of your belongings.
• Keep an inventory of what you bring to campus.
• If it cannot be replaced (heirlooms, expensive jewelry, family mementos), it should be left at home.
• Make sure to get personal property insurance. Visit these sites for information about coverage: http://www.collegestudentinsurance.com/ or http://nssinc.com/.
• If it is not covered by insurance, either personal property or parent’s homeowner’s, don’t bring it!
• Pack your belongings carefully to prevent damage.
• Remember: you have to take home anything you bring at the end of the spring!
