Students Currently Studying Abroad or Away on Leave of Absence

Spring 2008

According to our records, you previously submitted a Leave of Absence form in our office indicating your intent to return to campus housing in Fall 2008.  Below you will find information on how to ensure you receive a housing assignment for Fall 2008 during the current housing assignments process for our returning students.   Please note that these records are maintained separately from current housing and registration data.  Accordingly, if your plans changed previously AND you ARE here on-campus, then you should simply disregard this e-mail.  We will audit these records over the next week and eliminate anyone who is still here for Spring 2008.

In order to ensure you receive a housing assignment for Fall 2008-Spring 2009, you must complete the following by Friday, March 14, 2008 (unless you choose Option 1 below!!!): 

• Review the Housing Application Agreement and Contract Terms and Conditions online at http://housing.tulane.edu/apply/returningstudenthousing.php
• Email APPLYHRL@tulane.edu with the subject line: ABROAD CONFIRM and include the following items in the text of the e-mail:
• Full Name
• Date of Birth
• Statement of Acceptance of the Terms/Conditions of the Application and Contract
• Parent/Guardian Name & Contact Phone #
• OPTION INFORMATION (See below)

In addition to completing the two steps above, you have some other options to consider and will need to select from one of them.   Prior to making a decision you need to have reviewed the information regarding housing priorities on this website:  http://housing.tulane.edu/apply/returningstudenthousing.php

Option 1:  A Friend is RETAINING an Aron Apartment: You can be pulled in by someone CURRENTLY in Aron through the RETAIN process.  The deadline for this process is FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 2008.  You must forward them your ABROAD CONFIRM e-mail above by Friday, March 7, 2008 (you can copy them on the e-mail if you like) so they can include a copy of it in their application packet (they must have this from you in order to be able to pull you into their apartment).  In 2.e. above, you need to indicate ARON RETAIN as your OPTION.

Option 2: A Friend here on-campus will be participating in General Housing Selection for you:  You can select a friend here on-site to select your housing for you.  To do so, in 2.e. above, you need to indicate the person’s NAME and E-MAIL ADDRESS as your OPTION.  Then, we will include them in our next e-mail on your behalf.

Option 3:  Have Housing & Residence Life staff select a room for you:  You can select HRL as your “proxy” and a member of our staff will select a room for you based on preferences you outline for us.  To do so, in 2.e. above, you need to indicate HOUSING as your OPTION as well as list at minimum (3) preferences based on your housing priorities.
