The Department of Housing and Residence Life challenges, supports, and educates residents within our living and learning communities to become responsible, aware, and engaged citizens.

VISION STATEMENT

Housing and Residence Life: A progressive Tulane University resource that cultivates respect, responsibility, and pride within a unique living and learning environment with an emphasis on student development through education and learning, innovation and development, and service and support.

Education and Learning:

• Support academic initiatives while promoting integrated learning opportunities
• Foster holistic growth of students beyond the classroom experience
• Provide students the tools to survive and succeed in the world
• Create policies, supply resources, provide programs, and offer leadership opportunities that contribute to student success
• Promote personal responsibility and action
• Enhance the perception of Housing and Residence Life as a leader in learning within the Tulane University community

Innovation and Development:

• Engage in constant renewal to improve departmental standards and practices for the benefit of our students and the University community
• Collaborate with other departments to improve and elevate Tulane University's reputation as an institution of excellence
• Encourage diverse experiences and opportunities for growth for all Tulane University students and staff
• Conduct departmental evaluations against peer institutions and industry standards regarding facilities, training, technology, and practices
• Be a recognized partner in the effective design, construction, and management of facilities
• Change with purpose to provide superior programs and services
• Recruit and train talented and dedicated individuals

Service and Support:

• Provide safe, clean, well-maintained facilities
• Provide personal attention and comprehensive care to all members of the Tulane University community, especially our residents
• Understand and adapt to evolving needs of the residential communities we serve

• Build relationships with peer departments to enhance the Tulane University community
• Create and maintain consistency and transparency in policies, procedures, and practices
